Wii Can Haz Football?

Blimey, this looks awesome:

Now who do I know with a Wii who lives, say, 500 yards down the road, Paul?

A Bit Of A Push To Get Through In One Sitting*

One for Antonia's bookshelf. The reviews are, er, insightful:

* yes, that was mine; I'm very very sorry...

Pimp My Ride (Daddy)

Awesome wigged out strollers (no, Freyja, not for the mean streets of South East London)

The Roddler

"USING collapsible, lightweight monocoque chassis construction crafted of aircraft inspired metal composites, we are able to leverage the durability and weight saving properties of the industries most forward materials to craft a stroller that carries a presence, not the pounds. Choose from one of our eight color themes or kustomize your Roddler with your own flair. We offer anything from a basic pearlized paint to stunning metallic surfacing, or, get our artists inspired to produce something that is truly one of a kind."

For $2,500, you'd hope so!

A Bridge Too Far*

No complaints really - a very even first half, followed by a goal for us from an unlikely source (a Bacary Sagna glancing header from a corner? WTF?) and then a masterclass in persistent finishing from Drogba (ably assisted, much to my annoyance, by AFC old boy Anelka). Large hint of offside for the first of theirs? Yes, but they had more than enough other chances to clinch it and Almunia had to make some smart stops. We suffered from the yips up front again; Adebayor was anonymous (he should never have had his hair cut) and whilst van Persie showed some glimpses of his brilliance, his 5 months out showed and he tired late on. Hleb created a bit and Theo came on too late to make a difference but we were disjointed and yet again couldn't hold onto a lead. Chelsea could yet win the title; but it's Man United's to lose, really.

And if we don't get anything this season? Well, it wasn't really today that was pivotal; the four draws coming into this derailed us (and how). Was Eduardo's sickening injury too much for a young team to cope with? We may never know. I know it's not over but it just got a whole lot more difficult - and now it's essentially out of our hands...

* what price this being a tabloid headline tomorrow?

Watch! The! Football!

There are some moderately important football matches being played this afternoon so I thought this might get us in the mood:

On The Move

I am in the process of moving our photos to Flickr. We will go by the unremarkably factual screen name of London Lightly.

Many thanks to Doug for hosting our galleries all these years (and keeping an eye on the comment spam!) but ~2,000 snaps of Freyja later and another one the way (offspring, not photo...) we're going to try hanging out with the Web2.0 community. So for the moment, there will be two links in the sidebar for the little madam until I sort out moving the archive across (requires all sorts of exciting/hacky Gallery1.5 -> Gallery2.0 -> Flickr action).

Enjoy.

Eee We Go Again

Whilst I generally leave the Freyja updates to Solveig, as she does them so much better than me, I couldn't help but feel I ought to bring this to the attention of my fellow gadget-loving dads (=>'dadgets'?):

Asus Eee + BBC iPlayer + cBeebies = Bye bye, Daddy; see you later.

Hang onto your Eees, chaps!

This was a public service announcement brought to you by The Concerned Dadgets Association of Great Britain.

Must. Keep. Believing.

1-1 with Middlesbrough today
0-0 with Wigan last week
1-1 with Aston Villa the week before
2-2 with Birmingham before that

It's not going well for my team (since the dreadful injury to Eduardo, if you want to look for triggers to the dip in form). Man Utd are now top on goal difference, with a game in hand. If Chelsea win their game in hand by six clear goals (unlikely, unless it's Derby again :) they would move up into second. We now have to go to Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge in the league as well as (thanks to the Champions League draw) play Liverpool three times in a week.

It's going to be tough.
But exciting.

Bring it on.

H4ppier Flickr

Flickr users? Ever thought how it was slightly annoying that your home page displayed your photos in reverse date uploaded order (regardless of whether you were just doing a bit of catching up or moving across a whole load of archived snaps or slotting some in that other people had sent you) and that the Flickr Organizr didn't have a means of editing the upload date?

Well, head on over to h4ppier photos - it's still in beta but has all the tools to edit all that EXIF data (including, crucially, setting date uploaded = date taken) and get your home page looking the way you want it again. Single photos to batches of 500, it can be done. Also does tags, sets, groups, sizes, etc and so on.

Worth a look IMHO :)

On The Slide

With new floors come new cleaning requirements. And so we really ought to have a pair of these:

Slipper Genie

"Why use a dustmop when you can just clean the floor by walking on it? Microfiber fingers on the soles of these slippers grab dust, dirt, and hair as you walk around. The sole is detachable for cleaning. The drawback is that they only come in a size to fit women’s sizes 6-9, so children, most men, and women with larger feet are exempt from using them."

Drawback??? Heh...

More Galvanised Marmite, Tintin?

No, I don't know what it stands for, but I like it:

I'm thinking half a pound of Tears For Fears, with a couple of heaped tablespoons of Depeche Mode (on Mogadon) and a pinch of Talking Heads.

You?

Two of things for you to ponder today:

a) Apparently, experts increasingly agree that I am middle-aged.
b) Charlie Brooker is (just) younger than me!

The Bacon Cup

I have posted this mainly to make Antonia snigger, but also because you simply cannot have too much bacon:

Neatorama: The Bacon Cup

Obviously it should really have been bacon bowls (and then it's only a short step to pastrami plates, chorizo cups, salami saucers and mortadella mugs). You can stop sniggering now. No, you can.

UPDATE: It has just dawned on me that, over the pond, a 'cup' is the name they give to an 'abdominal protector' which, over here, we who play cricket call a 'box'. So it is in fact a Bacon Box. That's just awesome. And soon to be an officially-endorsed G.R.A.C.C. product, if I have my way...
