Your Face, My Sleeve

I'm a bit late to the party on this, but only because I was debating which one I was actually going to do:
sleeveface

"one or more persons obscuring or
augmenting any part of their body or bodies
with record sleeve(s) causing an illusion."

Anyway, since I haven't decided yet, I thought you, my lovely reader(s) could vote! Shall I attempt to do:

Over to you, vote in the comments...

Eat My Goal

Now I may not be as quick as I used to be but I reckon I can still cut it out on the left wing (OK, maybe against a fat wheezing full-back who works in the bacon factory and smokes too many Rothmans).

But this ... this is amazing:

Tell me if it's video trickery. Actually, don't. Let it be.

Form An Orderly Queue(d Download)

As a sarcastic b*gger myself, I liked the tone of this:

Quite.

Chip Chip Hooray

Who knew?

"The International Year of the Potato was officially launched at United Nations headquarters in New York on 18 October 2007. The day's celebrations included the official launching ceremony, held in the ECOSOC Chamber, a special supporting event for IYP partners, and an exhibit on potato and IYP for the general public."

I'm a-fried I missed the launch; mashed try harder...

Overheard #35

A kitchen in North London:
"He'll probably stagger home with someone dressed as a large Brie."
"You'd better watch out; they'll be after a fromage รก trois..."
*applause*

Destroy The Web

This is very silly:

Help, help, we're doooomed: Led Handles

Overheard #34

Great idea for a fledgling startup:

Yes, so I reckon we're looking to tap into the WWII veterans / open-source mobile phone crossover market...

Explody

These are awesome: Exploded or transparent views of stuff

I especially like the horse...

Free At Last.fm

Many have tried, but this looks like the mould has finally been smashed on the floor:

"As of today, you can play full-length tracks and entire albums for free on the Last.fm website ... free full-length tracks are obviously great news for listeners, but also great for artists and labels, who get paid every time someone streams a song. Music on Last.fm is perpetually monetized. This is good because artists get paid based on how popular a song is with their fans, instead of a fixed amount ... we already have licenses with the various royalty collection societies, but now unsigned artists can put their music on Last.fm and be paid directly for every song played. This helps to level the playing-field—now you can make music, upload it to Last.fm and earn money for each play ... the business model is simple enough: we are paying artists and labels a share of advertising revenue from the website. Today we’re redesigning the music economy. "

Welcome to the future?

Mini Moog

These are utterly brilliant:

Something Afoot

So I managed to mash up my foot playing 5-a-side the other night; just look at the pretty colours:

Luckily, x-ray revealed nothing broken; severely bruised navicular bone (it says here...) and a metric ass-load of 'ouch'. Same leg as last time too *sigh*

Overheard #33

Saturday afternoon, a pub in SE6, close proximity to the wobbly pool table:
Hey, why have you got that spanner in your pocket?
Oh, that's in case I need to tighten my nuts.

I Want To Be Your Friend, Ro-land*

When you've been hands-on with Reason, this seems a bit lonely all on its own, but rather lovely all the same:

All together now, booka chikka booka chikka booka chikka lakka chikka (repeat)

10011010 To The Arsenal

This looks a bit interesting; MMORPG for football?

"What if you could play football online with thousands of other people in 3 to 11-a-side squads, controlling a single player from the footballer's perspective? Play casually in the park with friends at first, then more seriously within a well-drilled team on well-tended turf. Eventually, hard work and persistence may lead to you turning professional and earn you money with which you could buy the best that life can offer. Lead the life of a football superstar in a utopian world. Your first international qualifier beckons..."

Don't think it's due out until Q3 08 but could be amazing; need never leave the house again...

Blimey...

Goolies*

Some of these are brilliant; I was sniggering repeatedly at 'Dos Boot'. Yes, I am a geek.

* work it out!

Blue And Green Should Ne'er Be Seen...

...except on a Premiership goalkeeper's third change away kit :)

So 95/96 Away has to win for sheer audacity ("We shall strike like lightning through your defence!"), followed by 92/93 Away ("I can't see the ball, my eyes have started bleeding.") and 05/06 Goalkeeper a close(t) third ("Oooh, has anyone seen my man-bag; I'm sure I put it by the corner flag?").

Sheesh.

(big thanks to The Cannon)

Department Of Social Scrutiny

I rather liked this:

Notably:
1. You should, without delay, change your date of birth. This has the added advantage of enabling you to pick a more suitable star sign than the one you already have.
and
3. Instruct your bank to write to you in invisible ink, Icelandic runes or the secret code of the Puffin Club.
The tax forms are good too (and, sadly, almost indistinguishable from the real thing...)

Winging It

Sunday? Raining? Bored? Not any more...

"Great step-by-step instructions on how to fold your own X-Wing. Learn this by heart, and no meeting need be completely boring ever again."

Apparently it should end up looking something like this:

Get to it, men...

UPDATE: Andy had a go, and now so have I - definitely not for the impatient :)

He's Got Form(at)

This is one of the most hilarious music videos I have ever seen:

(by Ruben Fleischer in case you were wondering)

Thanks for that, Chris!

Ye Olde Starre Warres

I think these are absolutely awesome; baroque drawings of Star Wars characters/vehicles:

He's a very talented Swedish chap. And why yes, I'd love the Death Star for my birthday, very kind of you to offer...

Excuse me, you two. Remember this? Well, I saw this and also thought of you. No, I insist. You're welcome.

Gormanuary?

Casually (and if truth be told, somewhat foggily) perusing my many and varied RSS feeds this morning, I stumbled on this:

Which suddenly reminded me rather a lot of this:

Coincidence? Alex, fancy giving Dave a call...

Overheard #NYE

Happy New Year to you too.
Am I Brian from Westlife?
I'd pay good money for a glitterball Death Star.
To be honest, I'd rather have Gary.
I am enjoying some cheese - for once in my life, without being hassled.
